Mike McDaniel Begged Justin Fields To Stop Gashing His Defense

-

The Miami Dolphins escaped Soldier Field for a win on Sunday. Most of that was thanks to their dynamic offense scoring 28 points, and the special teams adding a blocking punt for seven more. However, they came dangerously close to giving the game away. That was because their defense had no answers for Justin Fields. The Chicago Bears quarterback torched them for 301 total yards and four touchdowns. His 178 yards rushing were the most ever in the regular season. Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel didn’t enjoy watching it too much.

Cameras found him on the sideline late in the 3rd quarter after Fields made another successful run. The quarterback was walking past McDaniel back to the field when the head coach seemed to be saying something to him. Fields could be seen visibly grinning as he walked by. Then the camera caught McDaniel mouthing two words.

“Stop it!”

Mike McDaniel was willing to try anything at that point.

His defense couldn’t stop Fields, no matter what they tried. Every time they tried to pin him down, he’d find a lane and squeak through for another big run. Then when they finally had him bottled up, he’d fire a nice pass for another conversion. It was a nightmare. In the end, the refs and a timely drop saved their bacon. Miami got away with a blatant pass interference on 3rd down late in the 4th quarter. Then a perfect Fields pass to Equanimeous St. Brown on 4th and 10 went right through the receiver’s hands.

An unfair end to what had been a spectacular performance by the Bears quarterback. Alas, it was a grim reminder this team wasn’t ready for primetime. They have too many holes on the roster right now. It will take time to fill them. Thankfully it appears quarterback isn’t one of those spots. GM Ryan Poles knows that his job is far easier now that he knows Fields is the real deal.

More offensive weapons, better protection, and a defense that isn’t toothless will be on the agenda next spring. Mike McDaniel likely feels fortunate he won’t have to see Fields again for another four years.

McDaniel could have coached Fields if they decided to draft him 3rd overall. Love that the 49ers screwed the pick up. And love that Pace didnt value draft picks and traded up to get him. Sometimes good GMs get it wrong and bad GMs get it right. Lets just keep Fields healthy this year and put together a solid team with 100 million in cap space and our draft capital.

It is never fun to lose but it’s fun to watch core players develop along with watching this organization continue to build in the right direction. Obviously Fields but Kmet seems to be making strides in recent weeks.

stfu…every time you speak Eric you sound dumber! Bears fans know what the teams deficiency’s are. I could give a 5 year old access to your info and they’d make better sense of it. Fraud

Refs cost us this game there were at least 4 blatantly obvious blown calls against the Bears it is utterly ridiculous the Zebras have zero 3rd party oversight for their complete incompetence.
