Bold Predictions For Chicago Bears At Green Bay Packers

-

The Chicago Bears know the deal at this point. They haven’t beaten the Green Bay Packers in four years. There is no reason for them to feel cocky this weekend, even if their rivals got thumped last Sunday. Everybody predicts the Packers to take this primetime showdown at Lambeau Field. That isn’t a surprise. This “rivalry” hasn’t been competitive since the mid-2000s. Green Bay expects to win. They will continue to do so until the Bears take it from them.

Matt Eberflus has downplayed the game meaning anything more than the others on the schedule. He may soon learn that is not the case. It matters, both to the players and the fans. The Bears head coach claims to appreciate football history. If that is true, he knows how consumed people are with beating the Packers. It can happen, but it will take strong performances from several key members.

Chicago Bears bold predictions for the Packers showdown

David Montgomery and Khalil Herbert combine for 150 yards.

The talk of the opening game in Minnesota was Justin Jefferson racking up 184 receiving yards. Nobody noticed the Vikings also ran for 126 yards on the ground, averaging 4.5 per carry. Considering they run a similar system to Chicago, it stands to reason the Bears might also be able to capitalize. Green Bay was 11th against the run last season but seemed to fade down the stretch. It doesn’t look like they’ve shored up that issue yet. The Bears ran the ball 37 times last week despite horrendous conditions and a stiff 49ers defense. Montgomery and Herbert are good enough to wear a defense down if given time.

Justin Fields posts a 100+ passer rating.

QB1 was considerably uneven in his two outings against Green Bay last year. He amassed over 500 total yards and three touchdowns but also threw three interceptions and lost a fumble. The Packers boast a talented secondary filled with 1st round picks. It will take plenty of discipline and accuracy to navigate the passing lanes against them. That said, Fields has Luke Getsy on his side this time. The Bears offensive coordinator knows that defense well, having served as Packers passing game coordinator from 2019 through 2021. He should know exactly how to attack them. Fields probably won’t put up huge numbers, but he’ll be much more efficient than last year.

Jaylon Johnson breaks the INT drought vs. Rodgers.

The last time Aaron Rodgers threw an interception against the Chicago Bears was December of 2018. That is an ugly drought the defense has gone through since then. The future Hall of Famer is notorious for not being reckless with the ball, so interceptions are hard to come by. Still, he’ll have to force a handful during the game with a young, unproven receiving corps to carry. Johnson only has one interception in his career to this point. That came back in September of last year. He finally gets his second at an unlikely time when Rodgers tries to test him.

Dominique Robinson has two more sacks.

Nobody expected the rookie 5th round pick to break out with 1.5 sacks in the opener against San Francisco. They’ll be even further shocked when he tops that feat by dropping Rodgers twice on national TV. Green Bay’s offensive isn’t in a good way at the moment. Both starting tackles, Elgton Jenkins and David Bakhtiari haven’t played in months due to injuries. They’re questionable to play in this game after missing Week 1. If they can’t go, then Robinson will line up against two backups at Lambeau Field. That is a premium opportunity to pad his stats further.

Why do all predictions online have to be called bold predictions? What happens if you’re wrong? Do you get 20 lashes?

D Robinson is one reason why R Poles can succeed in the draft without a 1st round selection. Poles is very good as a talent evaluator and a very canny trader in the draft. I laughed so hard at beat writers who complained about R Poles as I watched the Poles rookies set the preseason bar for achievement. Can’t wait to see what happens with the offense when V Jones is finally healthy and added to the offense. Robinson, Gordon, Brisker, Jones, and Sanborn are just the type of players who can make this team better than 2/3 of the… Read more »

Those are certainly bold predictions. If we get even one of those I’ll be surprised.

Keep on dreaming bears fans……Aaron Rodgers does own you as he so painfully pointed out to you last season.
The game might be somewhat closer due to a lot of young guys but the result will be the same.
