VIDEO: Chicago Bears Celebrate Upset Of 49ers In Glorious Style

-

The Chicago Bears were dead in the water at the start of the second half. San Francisco went ahead 10-0 on a field goal. After the offense only crossed midfield once in the first two quarters, nobody expected any response from them. Then a timely defensive penalty and a Justin Fields 51-yard touchdown pass changed everything. The Bears came alive, reeling off 19 unanswered points to seize control of the game. A stunned 49ers team failed to respond.

Just like that, the supposed “worst team in the NFL” had knocked off one of the NFC’s best. Fans were beside themselves with joy. Yet the best part came after the final whistle. Several Bears players, including Justin Fields, Cole Kmet, and Cody Whitehair, sprinted to the far end zone and went belly sliding across the rain-drenched turf. It was a fantastic moment. After what this team went through last season, it was hard not to feel the energy.

The Chicago Bears shouldn’t apologize to anybody.

It wasn’t pretty. The weather was atrocious, and there were plenty of mistakes to clean up moving forward. Still, it is impossible to deny the Bears earned every bit of that win. They fell behind early and looked stagnant. Rather than let the 49ers continue to bully them, the coaches made some halftime adjustments, and the players executed. The most impressive thing was that they only committed three penalties. They let the 49ers beat themselves. That is how you win close games.

They don’t award bonus money for style points in the NFL. What matters is the victory. Fields played great when he had to. He and a superb defensive effort are why Chicago will be celebrating for the next several days. No doubt the highlights of those end zone slides will play the entire time. Rightfully so. Football is supposed to be fun.

Bears 2021: Halftime
Fields: ‘Hey coach. What kind of adjustments do we make for the 2nd half?’
Nagy: ‘Wait… we’re allowed to do that?’

The OC/DC adjustments at halftime are what championships are made of, DC makes adjustments shuts down 49ers offense to 0 points, INT and 2 4th down failed conversions. OC makes adjustments, Bosa doesnt sniff Fields, offense scores in long drives, scores off turn over, 4th qtr come back, 3 TD’s. This is stuff is unheard of in Chicago, yet here’s a coach and his staff doing it.

Semi-poor execution, yet very disciplined with i believe 0 penalties in the 2nd half. As well They succeeded in doing 1 thing Nagy could never do, they made adjustments at the half. Huge room for improvement, yet all-in-all a very encouraging win when the world of, “experts” claimed they had no chance in hell. Go Bears!

A win is a win is a win. Maybe the SF fans will shut up for a while.
