The Chicago Bears have had several preseason standouts this year. Jack Sanborn leads the way with 14 tackles, an interception, and a fumble recovery. Larry Borom hasn’t allowed single pressure on the quarterback across two games. Elijah Hicks has two tackles on special teams and a muffed punt recovered for a touchdown. Yet nobody has stood out more than defensive end Sam Kamara with his 12 pressures on the quarterback, including a sack.
This isn’t some isolated incident, either. The former undrafted free agent out of Stony Brook also made lots of noise in the preseason last year. He generated two pressures in the season finale against Minnesota on just six snaps. There was evidence the young pass rusher had made progress during his rookie season. Now it is showing up every time he steps on the field. So it isn’t hard to understand why he took exception to NFL Next Gen Stats praising somebody that was considerably behind him in production this preseason.
No shade…but the craziest part of this tweet is y’all are talking about 2nd place 🥴 https://t.co/4mhjRHpmCb

Sam Kamara has every reason to feel disrespected.
Everybody says the best way to get noticed in the NFL is to produce on the field. Well, he’s been doing that for the past month and did it last year too. Yet everybody chooses to direct their attention to others. Much of it likely has to do with where others went to school. Okoronkwo already had an established name thanks to his time at Oklahoma. Rivers was a 3rd round pick. Not only was Kamara undrafted, but he also went to a smaller school. Such a combination makes it easy to get overlooked.

One can only hope the Bears have noticed. Sam Kamara has done everything required to make the roster. He didn’t miss any practices and produced in the preseason. Head coach Matt Eberflus should reward him with a spot on the final 53. He’s earned it. With all due respect to Mario Edwards Jr., he wore out his welcome last year and hasn’t done much of anything since camp began.
Kam-a-Kam-a-Kam-a-Kamar-Chameleon. You are not slooooow, you are not sloooOOOoohh…
I agree, Edwards Jr. is a Personal Foul machine. Pretty sure Coach Flus wont put up with that BS like Nagy did. He got the bag and hasn’t done anything since. Cut him now and let Kamara ball out!
