Cassius Marsh has carved out a longer career than many former 4th round picks. While he’s never been overly productive, he is a hard worker who can be serviceable in tight situations. That is precisely what he was for the Chicago Bears last season. With injuries piling up on defense, the team brought the veteran in for needed depth at the start of November. It was timely for him as the team prepared to face his former employer, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The night should’ve been a memorable one for Marsh. With 3:40 left in the 4th quarter, Pittsburgh faced 3rd and 8 from the Bears’ 47-yard line. They were well out of field goal range. Marsh came off the edge and sacked Ben Roethlisberger to force 4th and long. It should’ve been the decisive play of the game. Then referee Tony Corrente ruined it by not only flagging him for taunting but also hip-checking him in the process. The Steelers turned that penalty into three points. They ended up winning by two.
Needless to say, Cassius Marsh was livid.
He called the entire sequence a farce and said that Corrente was unprofessional for contacting him despite clear evidence the defensive end was trying to avoid it. By the look of things, he’s still pretty salty about it. Marsh provided proof via a video on TikTok that has to be one of the funniest put out by any current or former Chicago athlete in recent months.

Over 57,000 likes illustrate how much Bears fans and even football fans, in general, agree with his frustration. The video is hilarious but also backed by truth. Even months later, Cassius Marsh has every right to be upset. That call not only cost him a sack but his team the game. That should’ve been a signature win for quarterback Justin Fields who played brilliantly in the second half. Instead, it was one of the worst referee hose jobs of the season. Corrente retired after the season ended. Doubtless, many weren’t sorry to see him go.
