The player deemed the “worst signing of the offseason” has once again proven everyone wrong. Bulls forward DeMar DeRozan has been spectacular this season. During February DeRozan was almost unstoppable. Bull’s fans have been watching DeRozan work all season but February put the league on notice. Thankfully DeRozan was given the respect he rightfully deserves.
The #DeMVP resume grows.

DeRozan was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Month for February. His stats during February were next level. DeRozan averaged 34.2 PPG, 6.2 RPG, & 5.2 APG all while shooting 55% from the floor. The most shocking part is DeRozan only shot 26 three-pointers total in February. He connected on 10 of them and still was scoring 34.2 points per game. The fact that he is playing at such a high level while barely shooting the three is impressive. Even more impressive DeMar put himself in the all-time NBA history books.
DeRozan surpasses Wilt Chamberlain
It took 59 years but someone finally did it. That someone is DeMar DeRozan and the accomplishment was remarkable. DeRozan scored 35+ points on 50% or better field goal percentage in 8 straight games. Chamberlain’s record was 6 straight games which he did twice.
DeMar DeRozan surpassed Wilt Chamberlain in the most consecutive games in NBA history with 35+PTS & 50+%FG with EIGHT 🔥

The fact that he broke a record that had stood for 59 years is incredible alone. But that’s not all DeMar did in February.
DeMVP?
The biggest thing to come from DeRozan’s remarkable February is national recognition. Sure DeRozan was talked about in the serious NBA circles. However, you weren’t hearing discussions about him in the national spotlight. He would be mentioned during Bulls highlights but it didn’t go far beyond that. His performance in February along with breaking Wilt’s record put his name in the national spotlight. It also furthered his name in the league MVP conversation.
.@stephenasmith believes DeMar DeRozan is the frontrunner for MVP 👀

The most recent MVP rankings have DeRozan at the #4 spot in the MVP rankings. It’s a tough race at the top of the rankings but DeRozan belongs there. He’s carrying an injury-filled team to a top seed in the East. He’s breaking league records and ensuring the Bulls stay afloat. MVP means most valuable player and I don’t see what’s more valuable than that. DeRozan is going to need to keep up this level of play as the Bulls have a tough remaining schedule and still aren’t 100% healthy.
DeRozan can take this team far
The Bulls haven’t been healthy the entire season. They have had major players out for long periods. DeRozan is the constant keeping the Bulls afloat. He can help carry this team to a high seed in the Eastern Conference. If DeRozan can stay healthy Bulls fans shouldn’t be worried. Especially when you consider that starting point guard Lonzo Ball will be returning soon along with starting power forward Patrick Williams. We don’t know the exact timeline for Williams but he likely will come back before the playoffs. Package those with the return of guard Alex Caruso and the Bulls will be a completely different team. With DeRozan on the court, the sky is the limit for this team. For someone who was labeled as washed ahead of the season, DeRozan sure is making those people look like fools.

Let’s hope DeRozan can keep up this level of play and carry the Bulls far in the playoffs. It’s been enjoyable to see him work and prove people wrong. Now it’s time to bring a Bulls championship back to Chicago.
