Don’t feel bad if you’re struggling to keep up. The Chicago Bears have truly been that busy. Just this morning word came out they were requesting interviews with four different coordinators from three different teams. Now a fifth is set to join the fun as Tom Pelissero revealed the organization is hoping to meet with Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn. An intriguing story given its subplots.
This wouldn’t be the first time it’s happened. Chicago actually interviewed him seven years ago in 2015 for their head coaching position. He was reportedly a favorite of GM Ryan Pace before the team shifted to John Fox. A decision Pace may have regretted considering Quinn had the Atlanta Falcons in the Super Bowl just one year later. Nobody can dispute the man has had a ton of success over the past decade or so. Including this year for Dallas.
The #Bears have put in a request to interview #Cowboys DC Dan Quinn for their head coaching job, source said. His third request.

Quinn is renowned for his intelligence and leadership qualities.
He first gained widespread acclaim as the architect of the famed Seattle Seahawks “Legion Of Boom” defense that dominated the early 2010s. A unit that secured the franchise its first Super Bowl championship in 2013. His six seasons in Atlanta as a head coach started with promise, coming just minutes away from winning a title before a tragic collapse against Tom Brady and the Patriots. Sadly the team never made it back.

He landed on his feet. Inheriting a Dallas defense that ranked 28th in points allowed last season, Dan Quinn helped them jump all the way to 7th in 2021. Another sign that the guy gets results wherever he goes. His detailed, disciplined, and intense style would fit well with the culture the Bears usually prefer. He also understands how to cultivate a quarterback given his work with Matt Ryan. This is absolutely a smart decision to give him another go-around.
