Was Jimmy Graham Caught Taking A Snipe At Matt Nagy’s Offense?

-

Jimmy Graham isn’t happy. That shouldn’t be a surprise. Three games into the 2021 season, he has one catch. This is after having nine touchdowns in 2020. The frustration appears to be mounting as the Chicago Bears offense continues to flounder. They may have hit rock bottom on Sunday as they managed just six points. One field goal coming from a defensive stop on 4th down and the other from a fortunate pass interference penalty.

The Cleveland Browns did something historic. CBS tweeted out this gem. Chicago averaged a grand total of 1.1 yards per play for the game. The second-fewest in a game this century. Justin Fields was sacked nine times. At the heart of it all was Matt Nagy. The man who was so confident to take back play calling duties this offseason. In his past nine games with the call sheet, his offense has scored 20 or more points just three times.

It seems Graham couldn’t help himself on Twitter after the game.

It is hard not to see that and think Graham is angry with his head coach. He’s embarrassed by what he’s seeing. Remember this guy played with Drew Brees, Russell Wilson, and Aaron Rodgers. He never experienced anything like this in his NFL career. Now after playing just six snaps in this game, it would appear his frustrations have begun boiling over. In all honesty? Don’t forget he isn’t the first one to do this either.

Marquise Goodwin mentioned problems with the offense after the Week 1 loss to Los Angeles. Something isn’t working and the only common denominator at this point is the man at the top. Nagy refuses to get Jimmy Graham involved. He doesn’t know how to scheme around the strengths of his quarterback. Everything just seems harder when he is running this offense. That can’t be allowed to continue. Not if the Bears want to irreparably damage Fields.
