First Chicago Bears Depth Chart Is Out And Answers Big Questions

-

The Chicago Bears depth chart is finally out to the public. After the team managed to cut down the roster from 80 players to 53 in the past few days, the coaching staff has given a glimpse of how they envision the lineups looking on Sunday in Detroit. While it’s well-known Mitch Trubisky is the starting quarterback, there were still a lot of other competitions left to be determined.

According to the Bears website, the results are clear. Germain Ifedi will be the starting right guards going into this season. A fact most people assumed based on how training camp unfolded. Interestingly, Cordarrelle Patterson was listed as a wide receiver. That leaves David Montgomery, Tarik Cohen, and Ryan Nall as the only running backs.

Anthony Miller and Ted Ginn Jr. are the two primary receivers following Allen Robinson. Bilal Nichols is indeed the starting nose tackle in place of Eddie Goldman. The big story though is in the secondary. Rookie 2nd round pick Jaylon Johnson will be the second boundary corner in the starting defense. A reality that became clear when Kevin Toliver was cut. Last but not least, veteran Tashaun Gipson will start at safety next to Eddie Jackson.

Chicago Bears depth chart could look different soon though

As always, such things are subject to change. Certain guys who look like starters now could find themselves benched if they don’t perform up to expectations. Rookie could ascend to earn more playing time. Guys could (and probably will) get hurt. It’s all about whether a team can juggle such inevitibalities and still continue to go out and win.

Still, it’s exciting to see younger guys like Nichols and Johnson get such big opportunities. One can imagine Cole Kmet and Darnell Mooney will also see plenty of chance on offense after both showed out in training. This roster seems to have a nice blend of veteran stars and talented young bucks. It comes down to whether everybody is able to pull their weight.
