Son Of Lovie Smith Became A Pimp After Leaving NFL

-

Lovie Smith is a respected legend in Chicago Bears history. The second-most successful head coach of the Super Bowl era behind only Mike Ditka. Over the past decade, fans have grown to have a great deal more respect for the man after seeing just one winning season since he was fired in 2013. A testament to how good he actually was during his eight-year run with the team.

What many people don’t remember is for a short time Smith brought his son Mikal on board on an assistant coach. He started out in defensive quality control before spending 2012 as the nickelbacks coach. He followed his father to Tampa Bay after that before Smith was soon out of the NFL in 2016. It seems things truly went sideways for the younger Smith after that.

Reports surfaced that Mikal Smith was arrested and indicted on nine counts including sex trafficking.

“According to the indictment, Smith and co-defendant Aprel Mae Rasmussen are accused of maintaining a prostitution enterprise from December 2018 and September 2019 in Maricopa County, which encompasses Phoenix and its suburbs.

The two are accused of encouraging a victim to engage in acts of prostitution. Smith is also accused of compelling Rasmussen to do the same — the charge of pandering is akin to pimping — and of threatening and intimidating Rasmussen and another victim.

In all, Smith is charged with nine counts: conspiracy, illegally conducting an enterprise, first-degree money laundering, pandering, receiving earnings of a prostitute, sex trafficking and threatening and intimidating. He faces arraignment on Sept. 10.”

Lovie Smith must be beyond crushed by this

It’s important to remember who Smith is as a person. He is a man of deep faith from Texas who refused to say a single curse worse during his coaching tenure in Chicago. As upstanding a citizen as there is in this country. So to see his son fall into such an awful crime like that? One can only imagine what the head coach must be thinking and feeling.

If found guilty, Mikal will go to prison for a long time. It’s hard to understand where things might’ve gone wrong for him. Did he go down a dark path because of money issues or was he always that type of person at heart? There is no way to know. Lovie has not made a comment of any kind on the situation. He remains the head coach at the University of Illinois.
