Last night’s start against the Twins may have been the last for Reynaldo Lopez. After getting pounded by Minnesota in the Opening Series, Lopez hit the IL before coming back and getting roughed up again.
It’s sad to say, but it’s looking more and more like Lopez doesn’t have a future on the team. That was made clearer just recently as the White Sox optioned him back to the Schaumburg training site and called up Bernardo Flores.
Flores is a promising young arm who really can’t be worse than Lopez, so I think this is a solid move. The bottom line is if the White Sox want to make a run at the division, they can’t afford to let Lopez pitch.
