Cubs manager David Ross was ejected in the fourth inning of Saturday night’s game against the Reds after umpires issued warnings stemming from a pitch thrown over Anthony Rizzo’s head.
In the bottom of the fourth, Cubs rookie right-hander Adbert Alzolay threw a high pitch against Shogo Akiyama that drew the ire from Reds players in the dugout. Joey Votto was visibly angry, yelling from the dugout and eventually the benches cleared.
Votto and Jesse Winker, who both homered earlier in the game, were ejected.
