Matt Nagy Jokingly Reveals Eddie Jackson’s New Position

-

Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy met with the media Wednesday afternoon. The third-year coach was asked the standard questions you are accustomed to hearing in these types of pressers. He obviously touched on the QB battle, Allen Robinson, etc, but there was one question in particular, that stood above the rest. It revolved around star safety Eddie Jackson wanting to be used on the offensive side of the ball.

This whole conversation stems from earlier in the week where Jackson appeared on Good Morning Football. He jokingly urged Nagy to give him a shot on offense a time or two next season. So this response by Nagy is mere fun nothing more. However, we also can’t entirely eliminate the idea of Jackson lining up as the third WR sometime next year. Nagy does have a track record when it comes to using defensive players on offense. The play that comes to mind, at least to me, would have to be the Giants game back in 2018 where we saw Akiem Hicks give his best fridge impression.

I gotta say, I wouldn’t mind seeing Trubisky (or Foles) throwing a TD pass to Jackson. This would also signal that the offense is at least playing at a decent level. Because if I remember correctly we didn’t see much if any of this type of playcalling last year. But I guess that is what happens when your offense struggled the way the Bears did in 2019.
