Spare me the overreaction slander or the “it’s too early” comments. In a 60 game season, the margin for error is slim to none. And the White Sox outfield depth is a gaping hole in an otherwise solid roster.
If the team wants to make a serious run at the division crown, they cannot afford to start guys like Nicky Delmonico and Adam Engel in the outfield. They just cant. And when they do have to start, they especially can’t put them ahead of Luis Robert in the batting order.
Puig isn’t the guy we saw as a rookie when he took the baseball world by storm, but he’s a hell of a lot better than the aforementioned Delmonico/Engel combo.
He was expected to sign a cheap 1 year deal with the Atlanta Braves (who already have Ronald Acuna, Marcel Ozuna, Adam Duvall, Ender Inciarte, and stud prospect Christian Pache in the fold) but tested positive for Covid-19 before a deal could be finalized. Once he’s fully recovered though, he should still have a decent amount of suitors, and the White Sox NEED to be one of them.
Puig would be an instant upgrade over Engel, Delmonico, and Leury Garcia. He would be cheap, the deal wouldn’t be long term, and would give the team much needed depth. With Eloy currently hurt (again), Puig’s services should be that much more sought after.
What’s better: Eloy, Robert, Puig, Mazara, Engel, Leury?

It’s an easy question, and it should be an easy solution.
