CBS Writer Takes Inadvertent Shot At Eddie Jackson

-

It’s no secret that the national media isn’t high on the Bears or their respective stars. At the beginning of the year, Allen Robinson was at the forefront of heated debates, as some media members didn’t consider him to be a No. 1 WR. Flash forward a few months and another Chicago Bear has found himself in similar territory.

Eddie Jackson.

In a recent post by Patrik Walker of CBS Sports, he released a top 10 list that ranked the best safeties in the NFL.

When I first looked over the list, I thought I had accidentally skipped over Eddie Jackson’s name. But after vigorously reading the graph over and over, I realized Patrik really left out the Bears safety. I understand all the players on this list are talented but how can you not include BoJack? So you’re telling me that in one year, Jackson went from AP All-Pro to not even top 10 at his position? I’m not buying it. There is a reason Jackson is currently the highest-paid safety in the NFL. I reached out to Patrik for an explanation on his rankings and he had this to say.

Subscribe to the BFR Youtube channel and ride shotgun with Dave and Ficky as they break down Bears football like nobody else.

“Simply put: He nearly got in over Earl Thomas, but it might be one year too soon to write off ET as out of the top 10. Jackson was the first one out (11th). For me, it was him or ET @ 10.”

First, I gotta give Patrik credit for responding. He didn’t have to state his case but I am glad he did. However, I do disagree with his stance. Eddie Jackson is a top 10 safety in the NFL. I understand the Bears under-performed last season but that doesn’t give you the right to take it out on No. 39.
