A day after drafting Garrett Crochet 11th overall, they come back and take high school RHP Jared Kelley with the 47th overall pick.
Kelley has easy gas, throwing upper 90’s effortlessly. He also has a tight slider that can get even better, and a very advanced changeup for his age. Another thing Kelley already does well is pound the strike zone. The 18 year old Kelley has a perfect pitchers build, and the White Sox can take their time developing him.
The White Sox now have a plethora of young pitching talent in their farm system. Kelley will join Garret Crochet, Matthew Thompson, Andrew Dalquist, Dane Dunning, among others.
The White Sox have nailed this draft so far. I had Kelley going in the top 15 picks overall, instead the Sox nab him 47th.
