Wednesday marked the first time Blackhawks players returned to Fifth Third Arena since the NHL paused the 2019-20 regular season on March 12.
A handful of Chicago Blackhawks returned to the team’s practice facility on Wednesday afternoon for the first time in nearly three months due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Patrick Kane, Alex DeBrincat, Alex Nylander, and Malcolm Subban were seen entering Fifth Third Arena with masks on to follow the NHL’s Phase Two guidelines.
All 31 NHL teams were allowed to open their practice facilities on Monday for a maximum of six players to hold small group workouts. Coaches aren’t allowed to be on the ice with the skaters, but they are allowed to watch from a designated area. Goaltenders are allowed to hire an independent coach for one-on-one workouts, but that person cannot be a team employee. All players are also required to adhere to social distancing guidelines and to wear masks while entering and leaving the training facility.
