At the time of writing, the Chicago Bulls have achieved a winning record 25 times and have made 35 appearances in the NBA Playoffs. There are only two teams who have won more championships than Chicago Bulls and they are one of the most successful teams in the history of the NBA.
However, in each of the last two seasons, they have failed to reach the playoffs. On both occasions Chicago Bulls finished 13th with Fred Hoiberg as head coach in 2017/18 and after he was fired during the 2018/19 campaign, with Jim Boylen at the helm. It is unlikely that Boylen is going to remain in charge of the team, therefore Chicago Bulls are on the lookout for a new Head Coach.
Who are the lead candidates to be the next head coach for the Chicago Bulls?
Adrian Griffin has been strongly linked with the position and he has previous experience of working with the Chicago Bulls as an assistant coach. He also spent time with the Bulls in 2004/05 and 2007 as a player, so has plenty of experience both on the court and behind the scenes. Griffin has yet to take full control of an NBA team as head coach, and if he were to be appointed it would be the first head coach position of his career. Nonetheless, Griffin has plenty of experience working with high quality players and is one of the top candidates to be the next head coach of the Chicago Bulls.
Could Griffin be the man to turn around the fortunes of the Chicago Bulls? It may be worth a punt on the Bulls performing well next season and with 5dimes popularity continuing to increase, is there any better sports betting website out there at which to place your wager?
Another man who is in contention to be the next head coach for the Chicago Bulls is Ime Udoka. Much like Griffin, Udoka is yet to experience a season in the NBA as a head coach but he has developed a tremendous reputation working as an assistant coach. He was an assistant coach at San Antonio Spurs when they won the NBA championship in 2014 and would be considered a defensive appointment.
Moving on to a man who has plenty of experience working as a head coach in the NBA and Dave Joerger has been strongly linked with the position at Chicago Bulls. Of all the leading candidates, Joerger clearly has the most impressive resume. He took guided the Memphis Grizzlies to three successive playoffs but was fired from his position at Sacramento Kings in 2019.
In terms of hiring someone with head coach experience, Kenny Atkinson fits the bill. He did a good job at the Brooklyn Nets Between 2016 and 2020. Despite being in a playoff position last season, Atkinson resigned in March with rumors suggesting he had lost the locker room. Atkinson knows how to get the best out of his players which was proven during his time at the Nets. However, he is regarded by many as being the least likely of all the candidates highlighted above to be the next head coach for the Chicago Bulls.
