About two weeks ago, rumors started about how the Las Vegas Raiders would target New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. On Friday, Larry Fitzgerald Sr., a long time media member in Minnesota, reported that the Raiders are prepared to offer Brady a two-year deal for $60 million. Fitzgerald Sr. is the father of Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald.
Brady is set to become a free agent in March and is approaching 43 years of age. He crossed paths with Raiders owner Mark Davis at UFC 246.
Brady passed for 4,057 yards, 24 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. Also, Brady completed %60.8 of his passes. The Patriots receivers struggled to get open, but also Brady did not play like his normal self, showing his age at times last season.
Derek Carr
The Raiders have Derek Carr under contract; still, he signed a five-year, $125 million contract extension back in 2017. Carr put up decent looking numbers last season passing for 4,054 yards and a 70.9 completion percentage. Carr failed to throw the ball downfield on numerous occasions. The Raiders quarterback was booed off the field in the Raiders’ final game in Oakland.
Everybody is wondering what the Raiders will do with Carr. If they choose to sign Brady, they must trade Carr before the draft to gain another draft pick or player. If the Raiders sign Tom Brady, it is a must that they draft a quarterback this year that they could develop in a year or two.
Brady And Gruden
Raiders coach Jon Gruden has always admired Brady; he is the type of intense competitor that would fit well with Gruden’s fiery personality. Gruden is known for trying to push the buttons of his players to get the best out of them. He has taken the easy route on Carr because of Carr’s personality. Brady and Gruden would challenge each other to be better, much like Gruden and Rich Gannon did in the late 90s and early 2000s.
It will be interesting to see if Brady to Las Vegas happens, but i don’t see Brady leaving the Patriots, but you never know in this day in age.
