The All-Star reserves came out and they were missing one name, Zach LaVine.
Averaging 25.1 ppg, shooting 44% from the field, and single-handedly winning games for this Bulls team, he didn’t make the cut.
After being outside the top 5 in fan voting he relied on the voting of coaches in the Eastern Conference. Unfortunately, coaches valued players like Kyle Lowry and Ben Simmons over LaVine. He certainly has made his case this year. LaVine is an elite scorer and has shown that throughout this season.
It would have been nice to see him dawn an All-Star jersey at the United Center. The only possibility we will have of seeing LaVine on the court during All-Star weekend would be if he entered the dunk contest. Aaron Gordon has confirmed that he will be in the dunk contest which has fans and players wanting LaVine to join in.
This would be a rematch of the 2016 Slam Dunk contest that had fans watching every second. All we can do now is wait and see if the Bulls will be represented in any fashion during All-Star weekend.
