Kane leads the Blackhawks in goals (20), assists (27), and points (47) through 40 games this season.
Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane was named to the 2020 NHL All-Star Game on Monday afternoon. This marks Kane’s sixth consecutive All-Star Game appearance and ninth total in his 13-year career.
Kane’s 47 points on the season rank 10th in the NHL, while he’s 11th in the league in goals and 13th in assists. The 2016 Hart Trophy winner has carried the Blackhawks all year long, and his nomination shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone.
Kane will be joined on the Central Division roster by the Avalanche’s Nathan MacKinnon, the Blues’ Ryan O’Reilly, Alex Pietrangelo, and Jordan Binnington, the Jets’ Mark Scheifele and Connor Hellebuyck, the Predators’ Roman Josi, the Stars’ Tyler Seguin, and the Wild’s Eric Staal.
Robin Lehner was well deserving of an All-Star Game nomination, but the Jets’ Hellebuyck was named to the roster instead. Lehner (.926) has a higher save percentage than both Hellebuyck (.923) and Binnington (.921), but a 2.77 goals-against average might have cost him a spot. It’s a shame that the Blackhawks defense essentially cost Lehner his first All-Star Game appearance.
