Edwin Encarnacion always seemed like a perfect fit for the White Sox. No other American League team needed a DH more. With the addition of Encarnacion, the White Sox lineup in 2020 went from formidable, to potentially terrifying.
By mid-summer, I’d expect the lineup to look something like this:
Robert CF
Moncada 3B
Abreu 1B
Jimenez LF
Grandal C
Encarnacion DH
Anderson SS
Mazara RF
Madrigal 2B
Everyone in that lineup besides Madrigal can and should hit at least 20 home runs. 5 of them could hit 30.
Encarnacion is also a perfect bridge option for Andrew Vaughn to take the year to develop in the minors in 2020. His deal is just for 1 year and 12M.
The lineup and rotation for 2020 are now set. Give credit to the front office this offseason. They identified all of their biggest weaknesses and upgraded them. The only thing I can see them doing is adding a bullpen piece like Will Harris or Daniel Hudson. After that it’s off to the races. It’s time for the White Sox to go win the A.L. Central.
