The football Gods are not taking it easy on the Bears. After officially being eliminated from playoff contention last week with a gut wrenching loss to the Packers, everyone thought the Bears vs Chiefs game would surely get flexed out of Sunday Night Football.
Think again.
I mean you can’t really blame the NFL and NBC for keeping this game in the national spotlight. There is a lot to like about this match-up from a ratings stand point.
- Chicago always draws a larger amount of viewership
- The story-line of the 2017 Draft Class
- Andy Reid vs Matt Nagy
- Other marquee match-ups will be aired on Saturday/Monday night
- The Mitch Trubisky/Patrick Mahomes graphs can and will be used at an all-time high
- PFF can have a field day on Trubisky if he performs poorly*
*This is some-what of a joke but let’s be honest: PFF seems to have an agenda against Trubisky.
Subscribe to the BFR Youtube channel and ride shotgun with Dave and Ficky as they break down Bears football like nobody else.
There’s still hope (kinda)
The only way next Sunday Night won’t end up a complete and utter dumpster fire for Chicago fans is if (and this is a BIG if) Trubisky actually plays well.
I’m talking another Tampa Bay/Dallas caliber performance will be needed to help ease the pain of seeing Mahomes do Mahomes type things all Sunday night long.
Another key ingredient for Sunday Night to go even more smooth is to hope Mahomes is simply just off his game. The Bears defense will also have to come ready to play if they have any shot at shutting down Kansas City’s high powered offense.
Here is too hoping for the best and powering through what will more than likely be a long night for every Chicago sports fan worldwide.
