Hall of Famer Sees Mitch Trubisky Getting Nagy and Pace Fired

-

Deion Sanders may not be a quarterback but he faced them for a long time in his career. He was also teammates of some truly great ones like Troy Aikman and Steve Young. So for all his bluster, the Hall of Fame cornerback knows what the good ones are supposed to look like. He also knows what can happen when a team lingers too long on a bad one. It gets people fired. He should know. The man himself saw it happen before and he feels it’s happening with Mitch Trubisky.

Jerry Glanville let Brett Favre get traded to Green Bay in 1992 in favor of keeping Chris Miller. Then at the end of his career in Baltimore, he saw offensive coordinator Matt Cavanaugh get released because of the ongoing struggles of Kyle Boller. Nothing sways a franchise faster than quarterback play, especially this day and age. Sanders now fears that head coach Matt Nagy and GM Ryan Pace are letting Trubisky drag them to ruin this year.

He hinted at that strongly after the Chicago Bears’ 22-14 loss in Philadelphia.

“Whose fault is it? The GM. Who drafted him? Okay, he’s still there. The head coach had nothing to do with this transaction, right? But he’s going to suffer because of it. So sooner or later somebody has got to step up and say, ‘I made a mistake.’

…They’re almost the worst team in the NFL at throwing the football. You must throw the football to win games…

…The Bears got to figure out who this guy is in a hurry to save jobs. Families lose jobs because of the mess like this in the quarterback position.”

Mitch Trubisky is becoming radioactive to anyone near him

Sanders isn’t wrong. Trubisky isn’t getting better. He’s not even treading water. He’s getting worse. The fact he mustered just 24 passing yards in the first half against the Philadelphia Eagles, the 21st ranked pass defense in football, was a new low for Bears quarterback play. If that were even possible. This team has become a laughing stock to the rest of the NFL and it’s clear anybody tied closely to him is being caught in a sort of radioactive fallout. That includes Pace, who picked him, and Nagy who has failed to develop him.

Yet as Trubisky continues to plummet, they refuse to put a stop to it. Even with the clear evidence that he’s lost his confidence. This decision could have serious consequences for both me. For Nagy, it will continue to make him look like a fool who’s in way over his head. For Pace, it will be a constant reminder every single week that he picked the wrong quarterback when he had two other superstars waiting on the board in 2017.

If they let the McCaskey family watch this for much longer, it could end up costing them their jobs.
