What You Need To Know About Chicago Sports

-

There is simply no denying that living in Chicago is truly great. Not only will living in the city give you access to some of the best schools and universities in the world, but it will give you access to some of the most lucrative job opportunities. And, this is not to even mention the nightlife or all the entertainment opportunities that are possible. You combine this with the sprawling sports life and it should be more than easy to understand why more and more American citizens are opting to reside in the city of Chicago. However, before you just move to the city and become the biggest Bears fan ever there are a few things that you need to learn about the sports teams in specific.

The Sports Available

One of the most unique things about the city as a whole is that it is one of just a handful in the world that actually hold teams for all five major American professional sports. It doesn’t matter if you are a basketball fan or a baseball fan, a hockey fan, a soccer fan, or even a football fan, there is going to be a professional team that you can enjoy in Chicago. You have the Chicago Bears, the Chicago Blackhawks, the infamous Chicago Bulls, the Chicago White Sox, and the Chicago Red Stars. Heck, there is even a Chicago Sky team for anyone that likes the WNBA. Simply put, whatever sport you have an itch for, you won’t have a problem scratch that itch when you live in Chicago. Not only this, but Chicago is also one of the dew cities in the world that offers two sports in the same league. Just look at the White Sox and the Cubs. Both are professional baseball teams. And, both represent Chicago and everything that the city has to offer.

Understanding The Baseball Side

You just learned that Chicago is one of the very states in the world to offer one or more teams in a league. For instance, you have the Chicago White Sox as well as the Chicago Cubs. Both compete in the MLB, but the difference is their conference. The Cubs hail from the National League side while the White Sox hail for the American League side. This means that the only time these two teams could possibly meet and play head to head would be in the world series. There are only three other metro areas in the United States that offer this kind of action. They would be Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco. The Cubs play at the iconic Wrigley Field, which is located in the northern district on the north side of the neighborhood Lakeview. The White Sox, on the other hand, play out of Guaranteed Rate Field, which is subsequently located on the Southside of the town. This is truly unique in its own right and this is just what the city has to offer on the baseball side of things. You haven’t even covered hockey, or basketball yet. Oh, and don’t forget about the prolific Bears.

Understanding The Football Side

Unfortunately, the Bears aren’t one of those iconic teams like the Cowboys that see more Super Bowls than they can count. Anyone that has ever placed a bet at sites like s128 knows that the team has struggled over the years, but this hasn’t stopped the fans from rallying behind them. In fact, the more the loser, the more avid the fans grow. And, this is just another thing that makes the city great. The Chicago Bears are a member of the NFL or the National Football League and play out of Soldier Field. Over the years, the team has seen many greats of the sport come and gone. Some of the most memorable names include George Halas, Dick Butkus, Gale Sayers, Walter Payton, and coach Mike Ditka. Don’t let their unfortunate losing streak deter you because the Bears currently hold the title of having the most players inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. They currently hold 26 members. The Bears, however, did capture a Super Bowl title in 1985 but haven’t since much success since their inception. They did make another run in the 2006 season but fell short when they came up against the infamous Colts.
