White Sox Shutting Down Lucas Giolito With Mild Lat Strain

-

Lucas Giolito’s magical season will come to an end a bit earlier than he would have liked. The White Sox Ace reportedly has a mild lat strain and will not pitch again until next year.

Merkin followed up saying that there are no long-term concerns with Giolito heading into 2020. It sounds like this is more of a precautionary decision.

Lucas Giolito finishes his season with career numbers across the board.

3.41 ERA, 5.1 fWAR, 176.2 IP, 11.62 K/9, 228 K’s, and a 14-9 record.

He will certainly get some Cy Young votes, although I wouldn’t count on him actually taking home the honor.

When you have one of the biggest pitching turnarounds in the history of the game, you can go into the off-season with no regrets. He has solidified himself as a top of the rotation starter and a true Ace. He’ll be the Opening Day starter in 2020 for a team looking to finally compete for a playoff spot.
