Tim Anderson In Walking Boot After Leaving Game With Ankle Injury

-

Tim Anderson was helped off the field Tuesday night at Fenway Park after injuring his ankle, ranging to his left to make a play against the Red Sox. The White Sox shortstop has a high ankle sprain.

The good news is that there wasn’t a fracture, but Anderson still hasn’t taken an MRI. He was in a walking boot Wednesday morning and an injury list stint is in his future.

Earlier in the season White Sox rookie Eloy Jiménez missed a month with a high ankle sprain after an awkward collision up against the left-field wall at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Anderson is obviously out for Wednesday’s series finale in Boston and Leury Garcia is starting at shortstop in his place.

Going forward, The Athletic’s James Fegan concluded it’s most likely that the White Sox won’t be calling up another position player when Anderson goes on the injured list.

Between García’s and José Rondón’s shortstop experience, they are likely to handle this situation without a roster move beyond adding another arm to the 12-man pitching staff they brought into Tuesday.

In 70 games this season Anderson has a slash line of .317/.342/.491, with 11 home runs, 37 RBIs and 15 stolen bases.
