White Sox Have Their Own Three-Headed Monster In The Bullpen

-

The first game of the 2019 Cross Town series at Wrigley Field will be remembered for Eloy Jimenez’ go-ahead home run in the 9th inning, for good reason. However, it’s time to start showing A LOT of appreciation for the back end of the White Sox bullpen. Specifically Aaron Bummer, Evan Marshall, and Alex Colome. Those 3 have quietly formed a 3-headed monster for the South Side.

Aaron Bummer

What more can you say about this guy? He’s been absolute nails for the White Sox in 2019. He has a 1.59 ERA so far in 22.1 IP. That could be because of his uptick in velocity on essentially all of his pitches this year.

He was phenomenal again tonight against the Cubs, throwing 2 more innings of scoreless baseball.

Evan Marshall

Marshall is a pitcher who legit could be considered one of the best bullpen arms in all of baseball in 2019. After tonight he now has 17 STRAIGHT scoreless innings. His ERA for 2019 is 0.00. Truly unbelievable stuff. He got the Sox through the heart of the Cubs order tonight in the 8th inning when the score was still tied at 1. Couldn’t have showed up bigger in such a high-leverage situation.

Alex Colome

Fans are already familiar with how dominant Colome has been so far this year. But they might not know that he tied the franchise record for consecutive saves with 15.

We all know what happened in 2005!!!

Kidding kidding. The Sox aren’t winning the World Series this year I know. But the biggest weakness on the team is clearly starting pitching sans Lucas Giolito. But if the team can keep the games competitive into the 6th, that might be enough for them to scrape out close games. And in baseball, winning close games is incredibly important in the long run.

If you haven’t been paying attention to these 3, you should start right now. They’re not just good, they’re dominant. And it’s been a blast to watch.
