Forget All-Star, Tim Anderson Is Playing Like An MVP

-

If you’re a Sox fan, then you’re obviously familiar with how hot Tim Anderson has been to start off the 2019 campaign. Last night on Jackie Robinson Day, he added another 3 hits including an 8th inning double that he would eventually score off of on Welington Castillo’s game winning bomb.

Through the first 15 games, Anderson is batting .453, but it’s how he’s doing it that should have fans excited. Gone are the days of him striking out or rolling over on breaking balls low and outside. Instead he is staying with the pitch, keeping his hands back, and poking the ball into right field. We’ve never seen Tim use the entire field to hit. Now he’s doing it consistently. No he’s not going to bat over .400 this year, but it’s evident that he’s arrived as a baseball player instead of just an athlete.

Then there’s the defense. Yes he has made a few throwing errors so far this year, but he’s still getting to virtually every ball. I mean, just look at this play he had against the Yankees this past weekend:

And last night, he made an insanely difficult over the shoulder catch to save a run. Once he gets more sound at throwing the ball to first base, he’ll be one of the better short stops in the American League.

The White Sox currently are in a position to really improve their record by the end of April with more games against Kansas City, Detroit, and Baltimore. You can bet that Tim Anderson will be leading the charge.
