It is no secret that Derrick Rose has played with a vengeance this year. The kid from Chicago is the front-runner for the Sixth Man of the year award and has looked a lot like his former self this year for the Minnesota Timberwolves.
As everyone reading this knows, Derrick has dealt with so many setbacks and almost found himself out of the league in the 2017-2018 season when Cleveland traded him to Utah, where he was waived. Derrick then joined Minnesota and the rest is becoming history. He’s having his best year since his MVP year back in 2010-2011.

Would Derrick Want To Return?
Obviously, no one knows what runs through another grown man’s head. Derrick has never been shy of expressing his love for his city and the fans that stuck by him. Derrick made some comments last night not closing the door.
“This is home for me. I’ll never leave Chicago,” Rose said. “I still have a place here, I’m always going to have a place here. My son is being raised here. This is home. You never know in the future, you never know.”
Derrick is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season and will likely be looking for a new home. Could that new home be his old stomping grounds? Could possibly one of his last contracts in the NBA be back with the team that drafted him in 2008? It would be a feel-good story and Derrick himself said: “this offseason, you never know what could happen.”
Would The Bulls Look To Bring Derrick Back?
The answer to this question should be yes.
Will John Paxson and Gar Forman be too proud to bring back Derrick? The way that marriage ended three years ago was ugly and sickening. Derricks camp was resisting the front office and the Bulls brass wasn’t very supportive of their former MVP. But I guess the past is the past and it’s time to move on from that.
Derrick is now a 6th man. He has transformed his game to fit what needs to be done. Derrick is having a career year from behind the three-point line and something the Bulls need is shooting. If Derrick chose to come back he would back up Kris Dunn and help the younger guys learn what it’s like to win in the city. It would be beneficial for the team and the fan base alike, which is why the Bulls front office should at least give it a look.
After last nights Bulls loss to the Timberwolves, it was hard not to reminisce about the old times. Derrick led the Wolves to victory and the Chicago Bulls crowd let him know he was still loved here.
