Plans Are For a New Chicago Bears Throwback Uniform in 2019

-

The Chicago Bears throwback uniform of choice this year is a mix of their classic “Monsters of the Midway” style from the 1940s and the old orange jerseys they used to wear between 2004 and 2011. Both have been favorites to a lot of fans, but it appears the team is planning something special for next season.

According to owner and team chairman George McCaskey, there is a plan in place to design and unveil a brand new throwback jersey of some kind in 2019. One that the team has never introduced before. It’s likely part of a celebration for the team’s 100th anniversary, having been founded by George has back in 1919.

The big question is which old style will they choose to update for the modern era?

Likely Chicago Bears throwback uniform choices are one of two options

The thing is the Bears haven’t had a ton of uniform variations over the years. The variation that fans know today with the white numbers on navy blue emerged in the late 1950s, replacing the orange on navy blue they’d worn the decade before. In order to find the likely option they’ll go with for next year, one must go back even further. The most interesting that stands out is their 1930s variation.

Certainly a jersey that pops, right? It also includes black lettering and a black helmet. A serious departure from what they were later on. Here’s the thing though. The actually experimented with this design once before back in 2004. It was a road game against Dallas. Things didn’t go well and it was quickly shelved. No, it will likely be something else.

Remember this is the 100-year anniversary. This means the odds favor them going for a uniform style that the team wore back when the Bears were founded. If that’s the case, it would look something like this.

Obviously there would be some alterations but a navy blue jersey with orange stripes and brown pants? It’s hard to know for sure how something like that would be received. Guess we’ll have to wait and see what the designers have planned. It should be interesting if nothing else.
