Theo Epstein said the offense broke during his press conference and after another week of evaluation the Cubs have decided to fire hitting coach Chili Davis after only one year in Chicago.
Davis was previously the hitting coach for the Red Sox.

So, that means the Cubs will have three different hitting coaches in three straight years.
The Cubs finished ninth in runs scored, fourth in OBP, 13th in slugging and 22nd in home runs in MLB this past season. Not only did the power numbers go way down in 2018, but several of the young players took a step backward in development.
No, the offensive woes weren’t all on Davis, but someone was going to be the sacrificial lamb. But this won’t be the only change in the offseason.
