They don’t call him the captain for nothing.
During last night’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo played some mind games on the closer of the night, Pedro Strop.
With a one-run lead in the bottom of the ninth and a runner on first, Cubs pitching coach Jim Hickey paid a visit to the mound. The rest of the infield joined him to talk strategy on how Strop should pitch to the next hitter.
To be honest, it really didn’t matter what the hell Hickey told Strop because after Hickey left the mound, Rizzo had his own strategy.
A good ol’ fashioned mind fuck.

And of course, it worked.
The next batter grounded out softly to Rizzo to end the game and seal the Cubs win.
Nicely done, Rizz.
