Oh no, dancing for dubs has been put on hold for the time being as the White Sox have optioned infielder Danny Mendick to their alternate training site in Schaumburg.
The corresponding move is calling up right-handed reliever José Ruiz.

Seems kind of random, but maybe the White Sox are preparing for a short outing from Reynaldo López, and want an extra arm in the bullpen. López is starting in place of Dallas Keuchel, who will possibly return this weekend against the Reds.
Meanwhile, Mendick has been pushed back to a bench role since the return of Nick Madrigal and has struggled at the plate when he has gotten some chances. Mendick is 4-fo-24 (all singles) with seven strikeouts and no walks dating back to Aug. 30.
The White Sox are one win away from clinching a playoff berth. Doesn’t look like Mendick will be around to celebrate it though.
