It looked like the Cubs were going to waste another golden opportunity to score late against the Indians Wednesday night at Wrigley Field, but  Javier Báez came through with a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th inning.

After Willson Contreras and Kyle Schwarber both struck out with the bases loaded, Báez was down in the count 0-2 when he hooked a pitch outside of the strike zone down the left-field line that scored Ian Happ for a 3-2 win.

That’s back-to-back walk-off wins for the Cubs against the Indians that not only swept the quick set in Chicago but also capped off the four-game series sweep against Cleveland this season.

The Cubs are now 30-20, going 7-2 since their big win over the Cardinals on Labor Day. Following their fourth straight win Wednesday night, the Cubs increased their division lead to 5.5 games over the Reds and Cardinals.

As far as the entire NL playoff picture, the Cubs are now one game ahead of the Braves for the No. 2 seed in the postseason.

Following Thursday’s off day, the Cubs have 10 games left in the regular season, beginning with their final home games this weekend against the Twins and then seven on the road. That final stretch features four games against the Pirates and three against the White Sox.
