Bulls Interview ACC Player Of The Year

-

There has been a lot of talk about who the Bulls are going to pick with the 4th overall pick, which is still very much up in the air. However, it looks like the Bulls aren’t only focused on the 4th overall pick but also the 44th pick. The Bulls need to be sure that they are bringing in the right guys at both of those spots in this year’s draft. According to reports the Bulls virtually interviewed with the ACC player of the year recently.

Tre Jones was both the ACC Player of the Year and the Defensive Player of the Year. He showed a lot of improvement from his freshman to sophomore year. He is currently projected as a late 1st to early 2nd round pick. The Bulls seem to be doing their due diligence when it comes to both of their draft picks, which is to be expected of the new front office. Averaging 16.2 points, 6.2 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per game he had a pretty solid year with Duke during this shortened season. The one thing that really stands out for Tre is his defense. It’s NBA ready and would surely help the Bulls.

Would he fit in with this team?

The way the draft could shape out being able to grab Tre Jones with the 44th pick would be a steal. It adds depth to the guard position while improving the overall team defense. With the uncertainty of keeping Kris Dunn, we may need another defensive guard on the team to fill in. The addition of Jones would crowd the guard position on this team a little bit. However, with the right head coach, I don’t think there would be any issues. Jones would be a good pickup at #44 in my opinion. This obviously all depends on who the Bulls pick #4 overall.

This draft is accompanied by a lot of uncertainty with the lack of any true superstars but it appears that the Bulls are doing what they can ahead of the draft to be prepared. It would be nice to get a little more insight into the overall plan. We all know we won’t hear anything until we get closer to the draft in October. Will the Bulls stick with the #4 overall pick or will they make a trade? Will the team move around with their 2nd round pick? There’s a lot that this new regime could do and I think I speak for all Bulls fans when I say it’s exciting to be a Bulls fan again.
