White Sox Pitcher Is Most Likely Out For The Rest Of 2020

-

Right-handed pitcher Jimmy Lambert pitched two scoreless innings for the White Sox in the first week of the 2020 season. Unfortunately, it looks like his year has come to an abrupt end.

Lambert was placed on the 10-day injured list last Wednesday, following his second appearance of the season. It was concerning, as Lambert is coming back from Tommy John surgery in June 2019.

Now, after the latest roster moves made by the White Sox, Lambert’s season is effectively over. The right-hander was placed on the 45-day injured list with his forearm injury.

Lambert is now off the 40-man roster for the White Sox.

After four seasons in the minors, Lambert impressed the White Sox during summer camp and made his first big league roster on Opening Day. You have to imagine that was an incredible moment for him, not just because he made it to the majors, but it had to feel even more special after working back from Tommy John surgery.

Lambert, 25, was drafted by the White Sox in 2016, taken in the fifth round out of Fresno State. He’s made 70 total appearances in the minors, 68 being starts and posted a 4.07 ERA in 342.2 innings. It looked like Lambert started to consistently put it together in 2018, when he had a 3.67 ERA in 18 starts, but then came some struggles in 2019, Tommy surgery and now a setback in 2020.

The game giveth, the game taketh.
