VIDEO: Cole Kmet Tries Trampling Bears Defenders Like King Kong

The Chicago Bears made Cole Kmet their first pick of the 2020 draft. It was a moment met with a lot of mixed reactions. Some liked it. Quite a few did not. The logic behind the move was obvious. This team had one of the worst tight end rooms in the NFL. They badly needed talent in that spot. Kmet was the best in the class according to most experts.

Not only that but he was a local kid from Lake Barrington who went to Notre Dame. A school with a long track record of delivering some pretty good Bears in the past. Well, and he was talented. At 6’6 and 260 lbs, Kmet looked like a monster. He moved really well too. A good athlete who ran a 4.7 in the 40-yard dash at the combine. Note this is actually fast for tight ends.

Yet one thing that stood out with him last season was what happened after the catch. He’s such a good kid that people forget Kmet can also be a bit of an animal with the ball in his hands. He’s not afraid to drop the shoulder and run through people for those extra yards. This mentality was on full display during the first Bears scrimmage of training camp.
