White Sox Place Starter On Injured List, DFA Player, Add Two Players To Roster

-

The White Sox made a handful of moves prior to starting their road series in Cleveland on Monday. After not being able to get out of the first inning against the Twins on Sunday, right-handed starter Reynaldo Lopez is headed to the injured list with a shoulder issue.

The White Sox are also making a change to their bench, as infielder Cheslor Cuthbert has been DFA’d. But no, it’s not Nick Madrigal.

Ryan Goins, who played for the White Sox in 2019, has been called up to the active roster.

Meanwhile, Ian Hamilton takes Lopez’s roster spot.

In 2019, Goins played in 52 games for the White Sox and slashed .250/.333/.347, with two home runs. So, fans are still going to have to wait on Madrigal.

As for Eloy Jimenez, who left Sunday’s game an inning after slamming into the left-field wall, he’s not in Monday’s lineup against Cleveland. That means Nicky Delmonico is in left and Adam Engel starts in right field, as Nomar Mazara remains on the injured list.

Woof, Delmoncio is batting in front of Luis Robert. But the good news is that Jimenez isn’t on the injured list, so maybe he just needs another day off at the most.

We got all over Rick Renteria after this past weekend’s series against the Twins for some of his questionable decisions.

Listen to that here.

As for Hamilton, he has limited MLB experience, throwing eight innings in 10 games back in 2018 for the White Sox. He had a 4.50 ERA and 1.00 WHIP, with five strikeouts and two walks in his first taste of the majors.
