Lucas Giolito Trying To Break A Truly Unbelievable Opening Day Record For The White Sox

Opening Day has arrived and the White Sox will immediately get tested against the AL Central favorite Minnesota Twins.

The Opening Day lineup features Tim Anderson and Yoan Moncada batting 1-2, with rookie Luis Robert in the seventh spot and Lucas Giolitio starting on the mound.

Listen to some of our season predictions here.

But let’s go back to Giolito. This is his first Opening Day start and he has the chance to do something no other right-handed starter has accomplished for the White Sox since 1944. Yup, 1944! And that’s win at home on Opening Day.

I know for the last two decades the White Sox have had several lefties who have been the team’s aces and obviously get the Opening Day nod and the White Sox don’t start the season at home every year, but 76 straight without a righty winning? That’s kinda unbelievable.

Here’s the Twins lineup Giolito will be facing.
