Cody Whitehair Says The Bears Are Still Pissed About 2019

-

Cody Whitehair is one of the silent leaders for the Chicago Bears. He is not vocal to the media much at all. Yet when it comes to being in the huddle and on the field, his voice is heard often. That is why he’s had a lot of success at the center position. If anybody has his finger on the pulse of this team, it would be him.

That is why it was interesting to hear him speak for the first time publicly. Whitehair joined Jeff Joniak, Tom Thayer, and Jim Miller on Bears All-Access to talk about various topics. They covered how he’s managing to stay in shape without being able to go to Halas Hall or practice. The baptism of his baby daughter and of course the relationship with new offensive line coach Juan Castillo.

They also asked him his thoughts on where his head is at in regards to what happened in 2019. Whitehair didn’t mince words. Guys can’t wait to get back on the field.

“Yeah you definitely feel the anger and the sense of some unfinished business. I guess the best way to sum up our virtual offseason would be ‘motivated.’ I mean we know how much we left out there. The season wasn’t the way we wanted it to be in ’19. I would say the biggest thing is guys are motivated, guys are excited to get back to work and start the season.”

Cody Whitehair will likely love what Castillo brings

The evidence of this is pretty clear from the snippets coming out of various interviews. Khalil Mack reportedly has spent a ton of extra time in the gym. Mitch Trubisky is organizing constant throwing sessions with teammates. Roquan Smith is locked in. Guys are clearly not happy with how last season ended. Especially when they knew Super Bowl expectations were out there.

Whitehair will no doubt love what Castillo brings to the table. The coach is notorious for being detailed to the point of obsession. He also emphasizes a need for being physical in approach. He wants guys who will bring the pain to the opponent and is able to limit their mistakes. The center sounds excited about getting back on the field as soon as possible.
