Kyle Long may not be on the Chicago Bears roster anymore, but he certainly hasn’t disappeared off the face of the earth. He remains an active member of social media while also doing guest spots on radio shows and podcasts. One thing that has become clear in the months since the Chicago Bears chose to cut him? He’s certainly not afraid to throw around his opinion.
Especially when it comes to his former team’s offensive philosophy.
During a number of interviews back in the spring, Long stated he hoped Matt Nagy and the coaches would commit to running the football more. Cater to what this team has always done best. Take the pressure off Mitch Trubisky. That was the first sign that the three-time Pro Bowler might not be a big fan of the head coach.
Then when asked to come out of retirement by a Bears fan on Twitter, he delivered quite the reply.

He didn’t stop there. Long stated his decision to step away from football was not a retirement. He got fired and didn’t wish to play for another team. His words show that leaving was not his decision. It was Nagy’s. Put simply, if the head coach were to depart in the near future, the 31-year old might consider trying a comeback.
Kyle Long seems bitter and that is easy to understand
There is no denying that Long isn’t happy with how his Bears career ended. He wasn’t allowed to go out on his terms. After suffering a hip injury early last season, he’s hinted that he was basically benched by Nagy. Then they placed him on Injured Reserve. Something that he wasn’t happy about at the time. This makes it seem Long is under the impression he was run out of town.
While he understands why that happened, that doesn’t mean he agreed with the decision. Despite the health issues, it is possible Long believes he still has something in the tank. If he’s going to try for a comeback though, he’ll want to do it in a system he believes in. Under a coach who believes in him. That is not Nagy.
