Von Miller is arguably still the best pass rusher in the NFL. So when he holds his annual Pass Rush Summit each year, it tends to draw lots of attention. This year was no different. Amidst a who’s who list of names that included Myles Garrett, Cam Jordan, Shaq Barrett, and Chandler Jones. Also in that group were two members of the Chicago Bears. Superstar Khalil Mack and rookie Trevis Gipson.

Mack and Miller go way back. Both played together in the same division from 2014 through 2017. Miller with the Denver Broncos and Mack with the Oakland Raiders. So it’s not surprising the two have a connection. Gipson meanwhile idolizes Miller. He credits the star as the biggest reason he broke out for Tulsa last season, having taught him tons of pass rushing tricks that helped him eventually get drafted.

According to James Palmer on NFL Network, the panel discussion was scheduled for 90 minutes on Zoom. It was so productive though it went 20 minutes long. Guys just reviewing film and having discussions about what works for them. The session was also watched on a live stream by over 700 people. What made it great was the event served as charity work too, helping Miller achieve a goal of 580,000 meals for COVID-hit families in Texas and Colorado.

Khalil Mack and Trevis Gipson have high expectations for 2020

It’s hardly a shock Mack or Gipson participated in the summit. Both are known for their relentless work ethics and their outstanding character. So this was right up their alley. Mack has reportedly been working out like never before since the offseason began. Even attending Bears meetings virtually from his weight room. Coaches also have high hopes for Gipson who they feel can flourish with a position switch to outside linebacker.

Together with new arrival Robert Quinn, the Bears pass rush should be a sight to see this year. That trio has a chance to produce a lot of sacks in 2020 if everybody stays healthy. To say nothing of the returning Akiem Hicks too. Hopefully whatever they learned at the summit will be put to good use.
