When the Bears used the 43rd overall pick on Notre Dame’s Cole Kmet, it shocked a lot of fans. The national media clowning the pick certainly didn’t help ease concerns. By now we all know the running joke about Ryan Pace collecting tight ends. However this pick with Kmet shouldn’t have received nearly the amount of criticism it initially did. The tight end position was still a big need even with the addition of Jimmy Graham in free agency. So taking the best tight end in the draft wasn’t a reach on the Bears part. It was a solid pick and filled a need that Matt Nagy’s offense was desperately missing in 2019. The Bears went from Trey Burton and Adam Shaheen to Cole Kmet and Jimmy Graham.
That is one helluva an upgrade.

Zach Miller isn’t wrong here. Kmet is a good pick. He also knows what it’s like to play for a city like Chicago as he finished his career repping a Bears jersey. I don’t think you could find one person in Chicago that would say one bad thing about Miller.
