ND Commit Tyler Buchner Is Five Star Again (For Real This Time)

-

Earlier this year, Tyler Buchner had less than fifteen minutes of five star status.

In an instant, the computer driven ranking system docked him back down – but in the latest rankings on 247sports.com the phenom quarterback finally got the bump he deserved.

FIVE STARS

Let’s be honest, would it matter whether or not Buchner was recognized as five stars in the grand scheme of things? Maybe not.

However, it is a step in the right direction for the Irish commit to be respected for the talent that he is. Considering the trend that Notre Dame commits have lost some star-status upon commitment.

Of course, this is purely speculation but incoming recruits Chris Tyree and Jordan Johnson both slipped in final rankings despite being considered five stars throughout the recruiting process.

This came as a surprise as Tyree and Johnson both had stand-out performances at their respective “all-star/all-american” camps back after the Camping World Bowl victory for the Irish.

Method to the Madness

A five star rating on 247 means that he is Top 32 in the nation – which reflects the number of first round NFL draft picks.  So, there is a method to the madness after all.

While Rivals.com still has Buchner as a four star he is still within the top 50 overall for the 2021 class.

Player to Watch

Needless to say, Notre Dame faithful will be rooting on Buchner as fans have a vested interest in his success. Buchner has transferred to a school considered to better prepare him for the game at the next level. We are all eager to see how the reigning Silver Pigskin award winner defends his title as the best player in Southern California.

It’s noteworthy that Buchner was the first High School Junior since Reggie Bush to win this prestigious award.
