Bears Mailbag — Based On Moves, Can Bears Compete For Super Bowl?

If they get even decent QB play, I think they can absolutely compete for a Super Bowl. The Bears had arguably the worst QB in the league last year, won 8 games, and probably should've won at least 2-3 others.

If Foles is even adequate, they have a strong chance of making the playoffs and then making a lot of noise while there. Remember, they won 8 games and should've beaten OAK and LAC. That was with arguably the league's worst QB.

I think SS, CB, and EDGE3 could be filled by what's on the roster, but they may look for upgrades.

They may like Ifedi to compete with Bars at RG, but I'd expect them to look for more competition. They need speed at WR.

I'd like either a safety like Tony Jefferson or a CB like Bashaud Breeland. Honestly, an EDGE like Clay Matthews would be awesome.

I don't think so. Kevin White was not a polished prospect — his injuries were just a freak, unfortunate thing.

They did address depth by signing Jordan Lewis and bringing back Deon Bush. Remember, teams will plug holes in free agency and build their foundation in the draft. If they find a safety they really like in the draft who is a good value, they'll pull the trigger. Otherwise, no.

It depends on what contributed to the lack of success. If injuries took like 75% of the roster again, then maybe they get one last chance. If the QB sunk them again, it's probably over.

A chance? Sure, given the open competition. Do I think he can realistically beat Foles? No.

I think there will be a season, but it will start late and probably either be shortened or it will end late. Unfortunate, but safety is so crucial.

It's possible. The Bears do think highly of him. But Germain Ifedi is good competition at RG and I have to imagine the Bears invest in the draft, too.

The Bears are going to go for whomever they believe is the best player at that time. I don't want to say they will target anyone in particular, but I am guessing that TE, EDGE, and QB will be ruled out in Round 2.
