World Series Memories: Kyle Schwarber Yells “Suck My Dick” To His Future Manager

With no sports going on at the moment, everyone is showing old games and that includes re-broadcasting the 2016 Cubs’ World Series run.

You obviously remember all the big hits, huge strikeouts and maybe you’re still mad at Joe Maddon, but let’s focus on some of the funny moments from the 2016 World Series. Here’s the story of Kyle Schwarber yelling “suck my dick” to David Ross, who is now his manager.

Here’s what I wrote after the story came out on why Schwarber yelled at Ross. From Oct. 27, 2016

Kyle Schwarber is a goddamn legend.

No swings for six months? No problem. Two games in the Arizona Fall League and then wake up the next day and rake in the World Series. Schwarber was the Game 2 hero in the World Series for the Chicago Cubs, going 2-for-4, with two RBIs and also got on base a third time with a walk.

He led the Cubs to a 5-1 win over the Cleveland Indians and he also had the highlight of the game. After his first RBI-single in the third inning that gave the Cubs a 2-0 lead, he looked into the Cubs dugout and emphatically yelled, “suck my dick.”

At the time no one knew if he was yelling that at someone specifically, or the entire team in general. Now, we know for sure. It was directed at David Ross.

Yahoo! Sports’ Jeff Passan found out why.

“It was me, ” catcher David Ross said. “And I loved every second of it.”

Ross, you see, is not just the lovable grandfather figure in the Cubs’ clubhouse, a 39-year-old hoping to ride into retirement with a ring. He is also a habitual line-stepper. After Game 1, he rode Schwarber hard. “One hit? That’s all?” he said. “Do something to help the team. Drive in a run or something.”

Schwarber did. And he made sure Ross and the entire Cubs’ dugout knew about it.

“I almost passed out laughing, ” Ross said. “I love that guy. He is so tough mentally. He’s stayed with the team and been in every at-bat with us. That’s why he’s having success. He’s a natural-born hitter. But he has stayed engaged.”

I love this team so much.

And here’s the clip from Game 2 of the World Series, when Schwarber delivered with a two-out, RBI-single before the most famous “suck my dick” in World Series history.

Fun times.
