With two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning and the White Sox trailing 3-2 to the Reds Yermin Mercedes took a close pitch on 0-2 that very possibly could have ended the game, but he made sure the Sox at least finished Monday with a tie. On the very next delivery, Mercedes crushed a home run and there was no doubt about this one. Is there ever when he gets a hold of one?

Oh my goodness, what a display of power. Line drive straight to left center.

That was his second straight game with a home run and boy is he getting the team’s attention so far in spring training, as Mercedes is carrying his 2019 momentum into 2020.

Not sure if Mercedes will ever be considered passable on defense, but right now he’s in the zone and making a strong case to be the 26th man on the roster come Opening Day.
