Finally, a “W” in the recruiting game.
The Irish put an end to the slump of losing talent by securing the commitment of four star strong-side defensive end, David Abiara.
Tale of the Tape
Abiara stands in at 6’4″ and just under 250 lbs, according to 247sports.com
The Texas product surprised a few scouts by opting to sign with the Fighting Irish over while he held offers from several top tier Big 12 and SEC programs.
Here were the final seven, in which the Irish emerged victorious from:

Abiara joins the rest of the #GoldRush21 family, which has seen many ups and downs the past few weeks.
100% Committed
In a twitter-release, Abiara says he is 100% committed.

What makes him so versatile is his ability to play multiple schemes on the defensive line, his size could easily transition him to an interior player that Sheldon Day was for the Irish.
One can only hope his ceiling is as high.
Righting The Ship
After a rough patch, the Irish faithful ought to be pleased with this pick-up. It’s a step in the right direction.
It is also fair to give credit to fellow commit Blake Fisher who has taken it upon himself to be the ambassador for recruiting among his peers. He’s putting in a ton of work off the field on the twittersphere, so keep up the good work young fella!
