A Cubs catcher didn’t homer against the Rockies in spring training action on Tuesday. The streak comes to an end after three games. Bummer. Anyway, here’s the latest from Cubs spring training.

The Cubs reportedly signed right-handed reliever Jonathan de Marte, who’s been the closer for team Israel, while playing in the international scene.

The 26-year-old pitcher was named the best high school player in New York twice during his high school playing days, but injuries slowed down his career in college, leading to several seasons in independent ball.

de Marte has been pitching in Canada and Australia for the past three years and his performance with the Israeli baseball team might have been what caught the Cubs’ attention.

Robel Garcia part 2? Let’s hope!

Meanwhile, left-handed Cubs reliever Brad Wieck is currently not in camp. The team isn’t saying much about his absence.

Wieck had been with the team at the start of spring training.

Ross had been out because of the flu.

Also, you can’t make this up. Lester’s replacement on the mound was…

The Cubs lost 12-6, but Ian Happ had a bases-clearing double.

David Bote is a great dude.

Here are the next three starters for the Cubs.

Yu Darvish is scheduled to start Saturday against the Brewers.

And having some fun with Marquee graphics.
